The Legacy Music Project: Lover’s Line

Lovers Line by Ned Andrew Solomon thumbnail featuring a couple walking on a beach

Lover’s Line has been with me for a long time and has had a few different studio incarnations. In my recollection, the writing came together quickly, and is one of my simpler compositions. Lyrically, it is one of my “progressive” songs, as each chorus adds a new element. The original title, Till the End of Time, was meant to convey a sense of this love lasting forever, through “thick and thin,” overcoming any obstacles. Over time, I decided to focus on an unwavering commitment – as in sticking to the “straight and narrow.” It turned out to be a lovely wedding song, where the “lover’s line” could signify the walk the marrying couple takes as they approach the “altar” or “chuppah,” which in turn represents the couple’s separate steps taken to reach this common point.

Although my Legacy Music Project involved “opening up” several of my previously recorded guitar/vocal tracks and adding instrumentation, we decided to keep this one in its basic form: guitar, lead vocal, and two harmony vocals, both provided by Gina.

The lyrics are below for those of you who want to read, or maybe sing along. Extra points for those who sing along, and then grace me with your performance!

Thanks for listening. Let me know what you think.

Verse 1:

Have I told you

That I love you

How I’d never let you go

And what you mean to

All that I do

Well honey does that show

Chorus 1:

I would walk this lover’s line

All the way till the end of time

For you

For you

Verse 2:

In my heart dear

I hold you right here

That’s how I get by

I count the cost too

Cuz if I lost you

That would be too high

Chorus 2:

I’d have to walk this lover’s line

All the way till the end of time

To find you

To find you

Instrumental break

Verse 3:

Have I told you

That I love you

How I’d never let you go

And what you mean to

All that I do

Well honey does that show

Chorus 3:

So walk with me on this lover’s line

All the way to the end of time

I love you

I love you

La-te-da-la-la

La-te-la-da

La-la-la-la-la
